BOOK DESIGN IDEATION

WHAT IS ALCAZAR?

Alcazar is fashion and art book focusing on the graphic design elements within the fashion industry. It will feature multiple interviews with graphic designers, art directors and fashion designers as well. The publication will also contain enaging photoshoots, color schemes, mood boards and an area for designers to feature their work.

EXPLORING THE WORLD OF GRAPHIC DESIGN WITHIN THE FASHION INDUSTRY.

NEW LAYOUT, NEW US.

With my revamp I chose to change the layout with increased emphasis on the photo featured by enlarging the size and bringing it to the center. I reformatted the color palate idea to be a framing device within the picture. It also distinguishes itself from other books as when designers see a color swatch it will instantly grab their attention.

I chose to also feature work that is more akin to fashion and fashion photography. While still incorporating a style similar you would see in advertisements in a vogue magazine.

OLDIES BUT GOODIES.

Previously, Alcazar was a magazine of sorts that I utilized to feature another project called “Class Photos”. The work features musical artists with backgrounds that are supposed to feel relevant to the personas their artistry creates and what time period they are from.

I specifically chose David Bowie, Rosalia, Noname, and Bjork as they are very fashion oriented within the music industry.

The design was a completely different style and had exceedingly different goals. This magazine would feature themed work that would go along with a narrative the was driven by the topic of that issue.

The other featured for this specific magazine was a barcode that would be a sort of collectable and identifier for each issue. It used colors featured within the artwork.
